It looks like I need to do a better job of keeping up with my Newsletter! I blink and it's been more than a year since I posted one. I'll try to be much better about sending these out on regular basis in the near future.
I was recently in the Florida Keys during January for the Paradise Paint Out, benefitting the Florida Keys Children's Shelter. It was a fantastic event and the artists had plenty of sales! I was fortunate enough to sell four! Of all the Paint Outs I've been in, and almost all are giving back to the community in some way, I think this event had one of the most worthy causes I can think of and I was proud to be a part of it. The public embraced us and the cause. My Thanks to Betsy Keteltas and Karen Holmes for their organization and efforts for making this event such a success.
Upcoming Events:
February 26-March 4, 2017 -- Wekiva Paint Out. wekivapaintout.com
This has always been one of my favorite events because I'm very fond the people who organize it and I also have a great deal of admiration and respect for all of the artists involved. Not only are they great artists, but they are good people as well.
From the website: Wekiva Paint Out, started in 2006, is a celebration of Plein Air artists that helps benefit charities such as Keep Seminole Beautiful and Wekiva Wilderness Trust. All week long, guests can visit Wekiva Island free of charge and witness world-class artists painting along the boardwalk, in kayaks, canoes, at the bar and at various locations along the Wekiva River. Throughout the week, there will be plenty of opportunities to view the work, purchase their pieces. support our artists and charities, enjoy live music, indulge in great food and celebrate art in our community!
March 25-26, 2017 Workshop
I will be teaching a two-day workshop on design and composition in Plein Air painting through the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach. This workshop is focusing a bit more on the "why" we paint something as opposed focusing exclusively on technique. Helping the artist understand concept, and how to compose a scene, will give their paintings more impact with the viewer. To register, visit the Cultural Center website at www.ccpvb.org
